McKay's First Day of School

McKay started his first day of kindergarten on Monday. I was going to drive him to school his first day, but he wanted to ride the bus. After he got on I drove to the shool and met him there to make sure he knew where to go. McKay loves the bus.

After the kids get off the bus they go to the school playground and play until the bell rings. We went out there the first day to check it out and make sure McKay was safe and knew where to go when the bell rang. Erica had her 2 toothbrushes and was walking around with the other kids at the playground acting like one of them and chewing on the toothbrushes. It was pretty funny. It was a funny sight to see all the school kids scream and run to there classes when the bell rang.

McKay playing on the slide at the playground.

I got a quick picture of McKay in his classroom before I left. He loves school.

Camping and Garage

The garage is looking great. Kory has been working on the siding and getting that finished up so he can paint it before the weather starts to get bad. The electrical is done and all that is left is the roofing, insulation, and sheetrock. We will be glad when it is finished and hopefully Kory can rest during the winter and do other projects around the house that have been put on the back burner.

Here is my first garden. I was not sure how well it would do because it was kind of clayish soil but as we have heard, you can grow anything in Idaho. My garden has now become a jungle and it is hard to get to the back to see what is growing there. Everything is growing great and we have had an abundance of zucchini, cucumbers, and small amounts of lettuce and sugar peas. The corn is getting there and so are the beans, watermellon, and canatalope.

Kory and McKay went on our neighborhood/unoffical ward campout. I stayed home with Erica to work. They went for one night and had fun. Here are some pictures of where they were.

Vacation

We like to take walks on Sunday evenings for part of our Family Home Evenings. Here we are just about to go. Notice the clothes. One is in his Sunday Best and the other in pajamas.

We took a quick trip down to So. Utah for Kory's Family Reunion. We were only there for three days but tried to make the best of our time. We had a great time hanging out with friends and family. We also were able to take Tyler down with us so he could spend time with Jon, Jason, and Jefferson.

Hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's home. Julie gave McKay a toy guitar that he loves to play. We are just about to go to the reunion.

Kory's family had a picnic at a park in Washington. Each year they have a fishpond and get to fish for lots of toys. Here they all are lined up for their turn. It was in the middle of the day and SOOOO hot. We missed Boise's weather.

McKay's turn.

McKay eating oreos, YUMMMMMM.

Trying to cool off at the picnic. I don't have pictures but after the picnic we went to a new recreation center in Washington with a huge pool and water slides and lots of fun stuff for kids. We had a great time there and enjoyed the water.

Driving back home.

McKay and I made this playdough clown that looks kind of like me.

Having Fun

We have really enjoyed our Summer and have tried to stay busy. Each day we plan something to do. We have been going to parks near our home that have a water areas, we take walks, the kids go outside daily to play in our kiddy pool in our backyard, and they play with neighborhood friends every day.

Here we are at Jared and Michelle's getting ready to go swimming. McKay and I had fun but Erica did not like the pool, she likes shallow water that she can run around in and sit in, so Kory ended up babysitting her while McKay and I and Jared's family had fun in the pool.

McKay loves swimming.

One day we put together a ramp for the kids to ride their scooters over that goes from the new garage addition to the back porch. McKay and his friends loved it and played on it all the time. Then Kory put a door in where the ramp was and someone put a small dent in it and the scooter ramp was destroyed and they were told by Kory not to do it again. Fun is over.

We rarely have people from So. Utah come through Boise to see us except Mom and Dad, but we had some old friends stop by on their way home from a trip to Oregon stay with us one night. McKay had a great time playing with their children and it was great visiting with our old friends we have not seen for some time. Now we know that we can fit 5 aduts and 6 children in our home. We had a great time.

I was taking pictures of the kids outside (refer to the last picture) and turned around and found Erica sitting (or laying) on the chair like this. She was half way on and half way off. She is always cuddling with her favorite blanket and likes to climb our highest chairs all the time. I have never seen her do both at the same time. Had to take a picture. She stayed there for quite awhile too before I got her down.

Another Musical Performance from Erica

McKay Turns 5

McKay turned 5 years old on June 26. We decided to have a water party in our backyard despite all the construction going on. It worked out well but a lot of work. It was windy that day so the kids got cold but seemed to have fun anyway. They ate hot dogs, played in a kiddy pool and slip and slide, and decorated cupcakes. That night we ate out at Sizzlers as a family and opened presents. McKay got a collection of Lego's, a Razor Scooter, a fishing game from Erica, and lots of toys from the kids at his party. It was a fun day!!!

Garage Addition Update

These pictures are out of order. Where we are now with the garage are the first few pictures and the last two are of Kory just starting to build the walls. Kory has worked really hard and has come a long way with the garage. It is fun to see what it is all now going to look like. Still have a lot more to do.

A window is going in the spot where the long hole is.

Starting out.

Bathroom Update

Okay, this picture has nothing to do with our bathroom update, McKay's hair was getting so long that we would often make it very spiky.

The hard working men laying our tile.

After all the tile was done, we had some professional drywallers and texture people come and fix our walls.

Here is the finished product so far. We still have some touch-up painting to do, the glass door on the shower put on, and the endless sealing of the grout.

Bathroom Update

This is a crazy project. Kory and Kirk have worked really hard so far and many late nights. One night Kory was up doing the plumbing and did not get to bed till 5:20 a.m.!!! Things are coming along slowly and Kirk promises it will get done within the next 2 days. We have made numerous trips to Lowe's and Home Depot, have had a water leak that came down into our garage, dust from the sheet rock covering our home, and dirty floors I vacuum and wipe up each day; however, through all of this, we are extremely grateful for our friends who one is a plumber and came over to help Kory and the other is our wonderful tile layer Kirk. We have been blessed to have such wonderful people come to help us. And as Kory constanly reminds himself and me that "It will be worth it."

What a mess.

This is our shower before we did this project.

This is the shower now. This is where our toilet is going.

Here is the bottom of our new shower which is where the toilet used to be. Switching these two around, our shower is now a lot bigger but a huge amount of work.

Top of the new shower. Hopefully in our next pictures it will have tile if all goes well. Cross your fingers.
